I was talking about what appears in the TV series and the movies.

I don't recall that scene from either. I do like it though!

I think that might be a fan edit of official art. Or then the official art was lewder than I remember.

This is just a visual representation.

There's 2 versioins, both official. This one is the less lewd one. The other has Homura's knee between Madoka's legs.

Reminds me of this scene.
>>12880
Don't say that. A lot of the seemingly meaningless backgrounds in Madoka actually have some well thought out symbolism behind them.

No.12882

>>12881
I will say that because for every shot with deep and complex meaning, there's at least 5 shots of Shaft and InuCurry showing off. Madoka makes great use of symbolism, especially compared to other anime, and it really helps that both Urobuchi and InuCurry seem to understand the symbols and allusions they're making, but some stuff just there for the sake of being there. You can't just freeze frame a shot that was on screen for a second or two and expect there to be meaning to it.

No.12884

>>12882

Agreed to an extent, while every frame isn't choc full of symbolism its when you get a full- if not close to full- image of the background in question where the focus is split between the active characters on screen and the environments (especially so in rebellion). though they do hide hints and easter eggs within frames such as when the dust clears shortly after the climax of the MamiHomu fight, You see a single plume of smoke where the shadows of it form a Hibiscus flower over the shot of Mami's boots. (I took that to believe that was when she swapped with her ribbon double.)

Do you think people will still discuss Madoka after 5 years? How about 10 years? Or 20?

No.12860

>>12735
Maybe it is hard to say… the future is, and will remain, undetermined. My uneducated guess is that it will, mostly based on the fact that no "copycat" animation that follows in Madoka's footsteps has managed to really displace it.

>>12739
> anime history was fundamentally different that gundam or eva.
True which is why I never understood the "Madoka is the new eva" argument. Sure both products are really good but both are, in part, a product of it's time and nothing outside of that product has managed to recreate it, before or since.

No.12863

>Madoka is the new eva
This was a sentiment in Japan before it was memed outside.

No.12872

>>12863

No, it's primarily a American thing. EVA is one of the few properties that is still talking about in large margin in the US, it's popularity in Japan is largely dominant until new product is out.
That is from what I have seen myself, anyway.

>Production I.G's Katsuyuki Motohiro watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica after hearing opinions that it exceeded Neon Genesis Evangelion.
>Hideaki Anno: It feels good to see Kyubey to be so thoroughly worked as a symbol as well as a character. The symbolization of the witches is also skillfully done. And then the music is good. The way HomuHomu was depicted in Ep. 10 was also good. I have good expectations of the movie edition.
>The show won the Television Award at the 16th Animation Kobe Awards, as well as 12 Newtype Anime Awards and the Grand Prize for animation in the 2011 Japan Media Arts awards. It also won three Tokyo Anime Awards in the Television Category, Best Director and Best Screenplay, and the Selection Committee Special Prize award at the 2012 Licensing of the Year awards. Madoka Magica was awarded a Seiun Award for "Best Media" at the 2012 Japan Science Fiction Convention and was also awarded a Sisterhood Prize for the Sense of Gender awards. In 2015, the show was awarded the inaugural Sugoi Japan Grand Prix, Japan's nationwide vote for manga, anime, and novels considered as cultural assets that have the potential to be beloved all over the world, among all the works published since 2005.

I'm talking about within the actual writing and directing community, not autists on the chans.

What kind of story would you imagine it to be? What do you think would be interesting to see in it?

Help anon brainstorm for storyjam ideas.

No.12818

I think this is so obvious that it's not very original but it's really the only thing that comes to mind:

The magical girls of the time end up battling a very real threat (witches, wraiths, whatever…) but also are the target of the infamous "witch trials". The trials and "witch hunt" end up hampering the girls efforts to defeat the real witches, so they must somehow overcome that persecution in order to deal with the real threat, probably with tragic consequences.

No.12819

inb4, "we really are witches"

No.12843

Here is a random idea.
What if a 'bad' Magical Girl happens to be the daughter of the towns mayor or some other authoritative figure. She uses this position to influence the town against the 'good' Magical Girls (who will be thought of by the people as witches), as a method of maintaining control over her territory.
You could also have this bad Magical Girl trick the other girls into thinking she is their friend, until stabbing them in the back and leading to at least one of them to getting caught, which could be a great betrayal scene.

What do you think?

Hm… I kind of want to write that now :P

Can someone find the credits for the Rebellion OST? I've looked around but sites seem to either have no scans provided, or textless scans, and the files themselves only ever credit Yuki Kajiura. I'm mainly looking for the specific vocalists for the voiced tracks. The one site I found with actual credits listed with the OST didn't specify who voiced what track.

No.12814

Kalafina don't voice any of the tracks on the OST, just the singles. I'm looking for the vocalists of the voiced tracks from the movie tracks (wo ist die Kase, she is a witch, dream world, etc.)

No.12827

Movies 1 and 2
Wo is die kase: Suginami Junior Chorus
Witch World #2: Yuri Kasahara
She is a witch: Yuri Kasahara, chorus: Yuriko Kaida
I miss you: Hanae Tomaru
Her wings/Rebirth: Suginami Junior Chorus

Rebellion:
Mada dame yo: ASUKA
Absolute configuration: Hanae Tomaru
Dream world: Hanae Tomaru
The worst ending: Hanae Tomaru
I was waiting for this moment: Yuriko Kaida

No.12828

Forgot to mention, for Her wings and rebirth it sounds like the Tokyo Philharmonic Choir, which Kajiura always hires for her choral pieces, but there's no mention of another choir in the booklet.

Could be Kajiura herself since she knows German.

It's always been about indirect conflict though. Kyubey has never been stronger than the girls and has never personally attempted to kill them in a fight. He's just manipulative. Both Madoka and Homura accept that he is a necessary existence in the universe.

>>12800
This has always been the main conflict of the series though. Only a retard would expect Kyubey to fight Madoka or Homura head to head. It's always been about him deceiving and manipulating to get his way.

No.12805

>>12799
>I think he'll probably serve as some form of exposition fairy or someone who explains what's going on in the plot for the characters and audience's benefit, but nothing more substantial beyond that

Yeah, half the reason why Homura chose to go full satan is just going to just sit back and watch things unfold. He hasn't gotten less manipulative in any iteration of the story he's appeared him. I highly doubt he's just going to phone it in.

No.12806

Homura did it because it's better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven. All this incubator stuff is made up by fans to apologize her actions.

No.12807

>>12806
Um, what has X (Kyubey) even got to do with Y ('apologizing' for Homura)? The one concrete thing we have to go by is the concept movie itself plus related material, and it takes its time to focus on Kyubey. So, it's entirely natural to speculate on whatever role the incubators might assume in a possible sequel.
